Hello, thanks for visiting the BumbleBear Blog. My name’s Chandler Phillips, comedian, comedy writer, food enthusiast, and alcoholist. Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, I initially moved to Las Vegas in 2017 to satiate some wanderlust and dip a toe in the entertainment industry. But when I got there, I was immediately enamoured with the stand-up comedy scene and swan-dove head first into it.
When the opportunity to move to New York presented itself, I seized it with the goal of honing my comedy chops. Since then, I’ve continued my pursuit of comedy by frequenting open mics and renowned NYC comedy clubs, and creating the “Was That In Good Taste” podcast with producer/co host Stephen Beary. (Making money as a liquor store clerk in the meantime, that’s where the whiskey reference comes from.)
I’m a craftsman at heart; whether it’s making jokes, making drinks, making food, or just making shit up, I appreciate the time and effort of good craftsmanship. My goal here with BumbleBear Blog is to present some facets of my life and personality, as well as have a place to showcase and promote my comedic craft. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making all of it.
Like a younger, sadder, less articulate Lewis Black.
I’d describe my comedy as a blend of absurdist satire, frustrated rants, and stupid puns. The philosophy is, “if none of the jokes land, at least we might all learn something”. My best bit is an extended joke about bread, if that gives you any more insight.
